Obituary of Betty Jean Johnson

Betty Jean Johnson, 84, of 27 Roland Rd. Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2014, in the Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, SC, while visiting her daughters. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 24, 1929 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Willard and Edith Morrison Hitchcock. She was currently an active member of the Jamestown Community Chapel and in previous years was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God and the Busti Church of God. Surviving are two sons; Gilbert (Evelyn) Johnson, Dennis (Patricia) Johnson both of Jamestown, three daughters; Janice (Richard) Lane of Sumter, SC, Jean (Bruce) Agens of Bear Lake, PA, Gayle (Randy) James of Lugoff, SC, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three brothers; Stanley Hitchcock of OH, Belmar Hitchcock, Roy Hitchcock both of Lander, PA and a sister Rachel Rogerson of Waterford, PA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gordon H. "Pete" Johnson whom she married January 28, 1950 and who died June 29, 2012, a son Mark A. Johnson and a brother Ford Hitchcock. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, in the Jamestown Community Chapel. Pastor Daniel Keefe, will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service in the church on Friday.
