Obituary of Dr. Thomas Verleni
Dr. Thomas Verleni, 83, of Naples FL, formerly of Flint, MI and Jamestown, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, in the Avow Hospice House, Naples, FL.
He was born July 30, 1930 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Perickles and Venetria Stogionedis Verleni.
Tom was a graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his B.S. Degree from the University of Akron, his M.S. Degree from Kent State University and his Doctorate Degree from Kirksville College of Medicine.
Before his retirement he was a radiologist for the Flint General Hospital, Flint, MI for 33 years, where he had advanced to be head of the radiology department. He was also past president of the Genesee County Osteopathic Association.
Surviving are his wife, Norma G. Akers Verleni, a daughter, Khristine (Rev. Bruce) Pratt of Hawaii, three step children, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother Nicholas Verleni of Jamestown, NY, a sister Agnes Spiro of Cleveland, OH as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Vangel and Gust Verleni.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, The Rev. George Zervos, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
