Obituary of Jean L. Raynor

Jean L. Raynor, 83, of Maple Springs, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014 in her home with her family by her side. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 13, 1930 in Maple Springs, a daughter of the late Russell and Mabel Bemus Haskin. Jean was a 1948 graduate of Bemus Point High School and also attended Jamestown Business College. She had been employed by Jamestown Radiologists for over 25 years in the insurance billing office. Following retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling to Florida and North Carolina, golfing, bowling and her beloved cat, Sadie. She belonged to the Maple Springs Union Church, serving as treasurer and organist, and later joined the Bemus Point United Methodist Church. Jean is survived by her three children, Nancy (Steve) McCanna of DeBary, FL; Daniel (Diana) Newberry of Mebane, NC; and Janet (Daniel) McCanna of Dewittville, NY. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Steven (Brittany) McCanna, Eric McCanna, Gregory Newberry and Alex Newberry; and a sister, Lois Ball of Greenhurst, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin P. Raynor, whom she married October 16, 1970 and who died July 4, 1997. The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Kristen Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends for ½ hour prior to the service, from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
