Obituary of Arthur E. Carlson
Arthur E. Carlson, 93, of 3161 Moon Road, died Friday April 18, 2014, in his home.
He was born August 30, 1920, in Jamestown, a son of the late Victor and Ada Carlson.
He was a graduate of Lander High School and was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving with the 71st Infantry, 44th Division as a member of the rocket launcher team.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Chautauqua Hardware in the maintenance department and earlier had worked for Reliable Roofing. His other career was as a gentleman farmer on Moon Road where he raised cattle and horses.
He was a member of Fluvanna Community Church, War Vets Recreation, Southern Tier Coon Hunters Association, Chautauqua County Beef Producers and a life member of Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting deer, rabbit, fox and raccoon.
Surviving are two children Diane (Bill) Boyles of Sugar Grove and James (Karen) Carlson of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Jill Ernst Carlson of Florida; a brother Elmer Carlson of Bemus Point and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Rogerson Carlson, whom he married April 10, 1943 and who died May 13, 2013 and a son Roger V. Carlson March 30, 2009.
A memorial service will not be observed.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
