Obituary of Robert T. Sorg

Robert Thomas Sorg, 24, of Jamestown, cherished son, brother, grandson and friend passed away unexpectedly Sunday May 4, 2014. Rob was born July 29, 1989 in Jamestown, the son of Stephen B. Sorg and Laurie Staples Sorg also of Jamestown. Rob was a 2008 graduate of Jamestown High School where he played soccer and ran cross country. In 2010, he graduated from Alfred State College and following graduation worked as a laborer at Heil and Andrews Construction. He was currently employed by the Jamestown Department of Public Works. Rob enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, and walking his beloved cocker spaniels, Jack and Bella. His favorite times were those spent with his family who could always count on his compassionate, down-to-earth perspective. A true handyman, Rob was a proud homeowner who always had a project in progress. Along with his parents, Rob is survived by siblings Brendan (Carolyn) Sorg of Independence, OH; and Stephanie L. (Jason) Labovitz of Lakewood, OH; paternal grandmother, Betty Lane Sorg of Jamestown; step grandmother, Carol Sorg of Jamestown; aunt, Julie (Chuck) Culhane of Bemus Point, NY; and uncle, Daniel Sorg of Concord, OH. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Sorg; maternal grandmother, Janice Staples; maternal grandfather, Lyle Staples; and paternal great grandmother, Mary Sorg Johnson. Rob will be sadly missed but more importantly happily remembered by all. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
