Obituary of Betty C. Walsh

Betty C. Walsh, 87, of Old Fluvanna Road Jamestown, passed away Wednesday May 28, 2014 in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident most of her life, she was born July 27, 1926 in Smethport, PA the daughter of the late Edward R. and Helen Hazen Cook. Betty attended Jamestown Schools and had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the area. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Surviving are her husband, John J. "Jack" Walsh whom she married January 5, 1947; a grandson, Gerald A. (Teresa) Haglund Jr.; of Louisville, KY; three great grandchildren, Kristina Haglund, Joseph Haglund, Ashley Baker; two great great grandchildren, Serenity and Alexander Baker all of Louisville, KY; and several nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward J. Walsh; a daughter, Joan Walsh Haglund; and a brother, Thomas C. Cook. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday June 2, 2014 in the Lind Funeral Home. Her son in law, Rev. Gerald A. Haglund, Heritage Ministries chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
