Obituary of Jack M. Kolstee
Jack M. Kolstee, 83, of Maple Springs, passed away at 2:48a.m.Wednesday June 4, 2014 in his home following a brief illness.
He was born June 24, 1930 in Corry, PA one of five children to the late Merle G. and Rhea Culligan Kolstee. Growing up in Corry, Jack attended St. Edward's School and Corry High School. He also spent many hours working on his grandparent's farm in Clymer.
Jack was a veteran of the US Navy, serving onboard the USS Currituck during the Korean War, and visiting many ports around the world. Following his discharge from the Navy, he studied auto mechanics at General Motors, as well as obtaining a degree in Accounting and Finance in the Jamestown area. Jack worked as a mechanic for several auto dealers in the Erie, PA and Jamestown areas before starting his own business, Jack's Service in Maple Springs, in 1964. In 1973, he went to work for the Jamestown Public School System working as Head Custodian for 19 years, retiring in 1992.
Jack met the love of his life, the former Martha Jane Kesby, when he moved to Chautauqua County in the early 60's. They were married July 2, 1966 and shared many wonderful years together before she passed away on January 19, 2009.
Surviving are four daughters, Candra (Erik) Lindstrom of Jamestown; Deborah (Paul) Langebartel of Maple Springs; Christine (David) Sheets of Anderson, IN; Karen Dawson of Maple Springs; 10 grandchildren, Andrew White of Fredonia; Jonathan Langebartel of Maple Springs; Leah Langebartel of Bemus Point; Katherine and Daniel Sheets both of Anderson, IN; Jennifer (Brian) Brady of East Lake, OH; Elizabeth Morrison of Maple Springs; Carter and Brendan Russo, and Ella Lindstrom all of Jamestown; and two great grandsons, Elijah Morrison and Pierce Brady both of East Lake, OH.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery at a later date.
