Obituary of Falare L. Sandberg
Falare L. "Butch" Sandberg, 76, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly of 30 Harlem Avenue, Lakewood, died Saturday June 14, 2014, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
He was born February 5, 1938, in Jamestown, a son of the late Gilbert and Evelyn Mae Shellberg Sandberg.
He graduated from Southwestern Central High School in 1956 and completed a 5 year course of study on Automatic Sprinkler Journeyman-Forman training program through the Pennsylvania State University. One of the years he won an apprenticeship competition. He served in the US Naval Reserve from 1955 to 1963
Prior to his retirement in 2006, he owned and operated Sandberg Fire Protection Services, Inc. He earlier owned Sandberg Sprinkler and Piping Company, Inc and the Jamestown Datsun Automobile dealership.
He was a member of the former Jamestown Jaycees.
He looked forward to the Bible's promise of a resurrection.
Surviving are four children Terri Sandberg of New Market, MD, Joan Sandberg, Elizabeth Sandberg and Earle (Mindy) Sandberg all of Lakewood; two grandchldren Karla Robin Schreck of New Market, MD and Glen Robert Schreck of Lakewood; a great granddaughter Mackenzie Anderson of Lakewood; a sister Carla (Glenn) Babcock of Leesburg, FL and a brother David (Laureen) Sandberg of Erie, PA.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Sally Gross, whom he married May 11, 1957 and who died July 10, 2007; a granddaughter Eva Marie Sandberg Anderson and a brother Bruce Sandberg.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
