Obituary of Mildred V. Anderson

Mildred V. Anderson, 94, formerly of 173 Hotchkiss St., passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Alvin E. Anderson whom she married April 12, 1947 in the Chandler Street Baptist Church and who died February 13, 2007. Mildred was born April 20, 1920 in Randolph, NY, a daughter of the late James W. and Ellen Hedlund Venn. She graduated from Randolph Central School in 1937 and has resided in Jamestown since 1939. She attended Jamestown Business College and had worked in the office of Jamestown Finishing Products, as well as the Clyde G. Jones Real Estate office. Mildred also was a partner with her husband in Alvin E. Anderson Antique Auto Parts for many years. She was a member of Zion Covenant Church, Mt. Sinai-Mecca Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and the Marvin Community House. Surviving are two sons, Todd A. (Linda) Anderson of Jamestown and Thomas E. Anderson of Arlington, VA; and a granddaughter, Adelle A. (Joshua) Smith of Durham, NC. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. (Blanche) Venn. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Kilburn will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.
