Obituary of Steven A. Carter

Steven A. Carter, 20, of 99 Eagle St., died unexpectedly in his home on Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born in Jamestown on April 20, 1994 and was a 2012 graduate of Jamestown High School. He also attended Jamestown Community College. Steve was most recently employed by the Serta Mattress Co. in Jamestown. Always involved in sports, Steve played midget football with the Southside Blue Devils, as well as basketball at Jefferson Middle School, the YMCA and several years in the Gus Macker Tournament. He also enjoyed baseball and soccer. Steve always looked forward to holiday celebrations and family trips. He is survived by his mother, Sharon E. Lawson and father, Charles A. Carter, both of Jamestown; a brother, Christopher Carter and sister, Carlie Bonfiglio of Jamestown; maternal grandmother, Allene Lawson of Ashville; and many cousins, including Marcus Holland, Robert Holland, Jr., Michael Holland, Kevin Van Dette and Marcus Thomas. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Trudy Van Dette, James Wright, Gary & Jackie Lawson, Bryan Lawson, Melissa Lawson, Tracy Carter, Debra Carter and George Carter, Jr.; Steve's dog, Pugz; and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kenneth Lawson; paternal grandparents, Mary and George Carter; and maternal great-grandparents, John and Gertrude Abers.. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Healing Word Ministries Church of God, 1006 W. Third St. in Jamestown. Bishop Leecroft Clarke will officiate. Burial will be in the Panama Greenwood Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
