Obituary of Wayne M. Cobb

Wayne M. Cobb, 79, of 1469 Shadyside Road, Lakewood, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in WCA Hospital. He was born August 23, 1934 in Jamestown, a son of the late Marshall and Myrtle Hamer Cobb. Wayne was a graduate of Jamestown High school and attended Jamestown Community College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. A toolmaker, Wayne was employed by Ring Punch & Die for 35 years. He was a charter member of the Falconer Moose Lodge #2301, earning his Pilgrim Degree in 2010. He was a 25 year member of the Eagles and the Vikings. He also belonged to the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the AMVETS Post #50 in Sugar Grove. Wayne loved to play softball for his Ring Punch & Die and Mids Genesee teams, among many others. He also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in earlier years. Wayne is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Catherine Roat, whom he married June 23, 1956; a daughter, Cindy (Howard) Coit of Modesto, CA; a son, Daniel Cobb of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: Courtney (Domenic) Fontana of Newman, CA, Cooper Coit of Modesto, and Tabitha (Tim) Pattison of Jamestown; two great-granddaughters, Brianna Pattison of Jamestown and Angie Fontana of Newman; and a brother, Bruce (Pat) Cobb of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Stenander. A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Falconer Moose, 11 S.
