Obituary of James R. Gustafson
James R. Gustafson, 63, formerly of 40 Scioto Street Jamestown, died Tuesday July 8, 2014 in Tanglewood Manor where he had resided since 2007.
He was born August 8, 1950 in Jamestown the son of the late John R. "Butch" and Mary Lou Helm Gustafson.
Jim was a 1970 graduate of Jamestown High School. He had been employed at Blackstone/Valeo Engine Cooling, retiring due to poor health. Previously he worked at the former Crescent Tool Co.
He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Vikings, American Legion, VFW, and War Vets. Jim enjoyed playing softball, flag football, bowling, golfing, and boating. He was a generous, big hearted friend who was always willing to assist others in times of need. He especially loved his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are two sisters, Kathy (Darwin) Stein and Debra (Randy) Jacobs, both of Jamestown; three brothers, Timothy A. Gustafson of Jamestown; John Stephen (Linda) Gustafson, Mark (Kathy) Gustafson, both of Portland, OR; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Costner, pastor of Camp Street United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Jim's family would like to thank the staff of Tanglewood Manor for their years of dedicated care to Jim and a very special thank you to the family of the heart donor, who provided Jim with seven additional years of life.
