Obituary of Helen P. Cusimano

Helen (Papa) Cusimano of 190 Linwood Ave., Jamestown, NY passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 13, 2014. A lifelong area resident and a graduate of Jamestown High School, she was born September 15, 1916 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of the late Benedict and Rose DeFrancisco Papa. She was married to Fred J. Cusimano July 31, 1941. Before her retirement she was employed at the Crescent Tool Company for over 20 years and in later years worked part time at the Clar-Vi Shoppe, staying close to the fashions she loved to shop for her entire life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cared dearly for her family. One of the highlights of her life was being at Kennedy's Inaugural Ball in 1960, letting her girlish excitement push Frank Sinatra's body guards aside in an attempt to get close to him. She is survived by 2 sons Robert (Susan) Cusimano of Cooper City FL, and Richard (Mary) Cusimano of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter-in-law Carol Cusimano of Akron, OH. 7 grandchildren, Fred John (Susan) Cusimano of Birmingham, MI, Christopher(Christine) Cusimano of Akron, OH, Karen(Eric) Peterson of Akron, OH., Richard (Cynthia) Cusimano of Suwanee, GA, Steven (Julie) Cusimano of Riverside, CT. Jessica Cusimano of Washington, DC and Jeremy (Emily) Cusimano of Arlington, VA. Fourteen great grandchildren; Samuel Cusimano, Scott Cusimano, Charles Cusimano and Colin Cusimano of Birmingham, MI., Chloe Cusimano, Salvatore Cusimano, Trilby Cusimano and Sloan Peterson of Akron, OH, Hunter Cusimano and Tyler Cusimano of Riverside, CT, Olivia Cusimano and Caroline Cusimano of Suwanee, GA, Charles Cusimano and Oliver Cusimano of Arlington, VA., a brother Anthony Papa (Gayle) of Claremont, CA and a sister Jenny Cosenza of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred J Cusimano who died February 6, 2006, a sister Angeline Papa Conti Jackson who died November 12, 2008, a brother, Angelo Papa who died December 11, 2010. A son, Fred Cusimano of Akron, OH who died March 11,2004 and a grandson, Mark Cusimano of Akron, OH who died August 31,1994. Friends will be received Sunday, July 20 from 4-7 PM at Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake service will be led at 6:45 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday July 21 at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery next to her husband of 65 years.
