Obituary of Ted H. Casler

Ted H. Casler, 57, of 56 Avalon Blvd. WE, died at 11:41 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, he was born September 8, 1956, a son of Harold "Tip" Casler and the late Janice Bailey Casler. Ted had been employed by the Shults Auto Group for many years, as body shop manager of Ed Shults of Warren and later as assistant manager of Shults Auto Credit in Jamestown and Dunkirk. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Lakewood American Legion, the War Vets and the Moose Lodge, as well as the Chautauqua Lake Fish Club. Ted will be remembered for his big smile and his big heart. His #1 hobby was golf, especially at South Hills Country Club where he was treated like family by Tom Trusso. He also enjoyed building things and working with his hands. Ted loved travel and particularly excursions in his 1976 Corvette. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Shults Casler, whom he married December 21, 1979; a son, Ted Jeffrey "TJ" Casler of Rochester; his father of Greenhurst; and a brother, Timothy (Nicki) Casler of Jamestown, sister, Debbie (Matt) Moore of Jamestown, brother, Thomas (Diane) Casler of Deltona, FL and sister, Denise (Tim) Williams of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are his parents-in-law, Edmond and Diane Shults of Sanibel, FL; brothers-in-law, Ed (Sue) Shults, Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL and Tim (Betsy) Shults of Lakewood, NY; sister-in-law, Kim Carlson (and fianc Dave Johnson) of Lakewood; and many aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to his mother, Ted was preceded in death by a son, Dereck M. Casler in 2010; and a sister, Diane Dahlbeck. A private family graveside service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to Family House, 5001 Baum Blvd., Suite 545, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213, where Ted and Cindy found a second family during Ted's double lung transplant and continuing care, as well as where his sister, Diane (Annie) Dahlbeck received the same care.
