Obituary of Ardith B. Caccamise
Ardith B. Caccamise, 97, of 15 Washington St., Frewsburg, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Interlaken, NY.
She was the widow of Dr. George F. Caccamise whom she married October 14, 1947 and who died September 3, 1979.
Ardith was born June 7, 1917 in the Town of Mina, the daughter of the late Amos and Eleva Jenkins Buesink. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1933 and the WCA Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. She then worked as a nurse at WCA until 1947.
A long-time member of Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, she also belonged to the Marvin Community House, Fenton Historical Society, WCA Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, Roger Tory Peterson Institute, Girl Scouts of America and a life member of the Jamestown PTA.
Through the years Ardith devoted her energy to the church, to her community, to her friends and to her family. She was a Girl Scout leader, was very involved in the church and cared deeply about the people she had cared for and worked with as a nurse at WCA. She was a deeply loving person who was a great blessing to everyone. She will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege and great fortune to know her.
Surviving are three children: Jean Kosmalski of Jamestown, David Caccamise of Amherst, OH, formerly of Frewsburg, and Nina Papperman of Interlaken, NY; eleven grandchildren: Sarah Papperman, Emily Papperman, Daniel Papperman , Todd Robinson, Martha Welch, George Caccamise, Tess Luna, Trudy Carey, Theo Brautigan, Wayne Caccamise, and Katie Caccamise; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, George Caccamise, Jr. and Gerald Caccamise; grandchildren, Jere Francis Caccamise, George Fredrick Caccamise, Jan Robinson, Scott Robinson and Mary Danson; and a brother, Walter Buesink.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m.
