Obituary of Kathleen S. Lawson

Kathleen "Kathy" S. Lawson, 69, of Fairmount Estates, 317 Fairmount Ave., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at home. She was born August 27, 1944, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Evelyn Jeannette Swanson Saxton. A lifelong Jamestown resident she graduated from Jamestown High School and also attended Jamestown Business College. She worked at WJTN for many years as a secretary and receptionist. She also worked for Chautauqua County Social Services as a secretary. Kathy was a member of Busti Church of God for many years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She volunteered in the daycare at the Kiantone Congregational Church. She loved her cats and anything to do with cows, crocheting, and swimming at the Boys and Girls Club. Kathy is survived by her son, Michael (Lisa) Lawson of North Warren, Pa; a daughter, Laura Lawson (Robert, her fianc and his children Lily and John) of Falconer; a brother, Robert E. Saxton of Jamestown; a sister, Jane Wilkes of Springville, NY; three nieces, Erin Boldt, Heather and Holly Wilkes; a nephew Scott (Tammy) Phanco of Russell, Pa.; and her extended church family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Lawson, whom she married June 18, 1966, and who passed away Sept.2, 2005, and a granddaughter, Heather Mundt, who passed away February 7, 2008. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Busti Church of God. Pastor Scott Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
