Obituary of Mary Jane Johnson

Mary Jane Johnson, 88, of Emeritus of Lakewood, formerly of 16 Arden Parkway, Jamestown passed away at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life, she was born May 9, 1926 in Elmira, NY a daughter of the late Harry and Nellie Bunn Stafford. In earlier years she was employed as a clerk for the former GMA Liquor Store for several years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to bake and cook for her family. She also enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and was an avid reader and was also a lover of animals, especially cats. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie L. Spencer, a son, Michael (Lisa) Johnson both of Jamestown, three grandchildren, James P. (Melissa) Spencer, Nicholas R. Spencer both of Jamestown, Brian S. (Sarah) Johnson of Dunkirk, and four great grandchildren, Haley Spencer, Patrick Spencer, Emma Johnson, Olivia Johnson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Merle E. Johnson whom she married February 9, 1946 and who died August 25, 2007, a son Scott A. Johnson who died November 3, 1980 and two sisters, Helen Wagner, Gladys Waksmunski. As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation observed. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
