Obituary of Dorothy S. Billing

Dorothy S. Billing, 87, formerly of 129 Colfax Street, died Saturday August 23, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born November 3, 1926, a daughter of the late Carl and Alma Johnson Stein. She and her husband owned and operated Billing's Bakery for many years. Earlier in her life she was a waitress at the Hotel Lenhart, Bemus Point. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and crossword puzzles. Surviving are three sons Chuck (Kathie) Billing of Boone, NC, Robert (Robin) Billing of Norwell, MA and Alan Billing of Wayland, MA; six grandchildren Shannon Brown and Emily, Mallie, Maggie, Justin and Tiffany Billing; a great grandson Gavin Vaccaro; special friends Carl and Jody Spitale and John Morgan all of Jamestown and a niece Kris Kerr of Middletown, NY to whom she was especially close. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ingvar Billing, whom she married March 25, 1948 and who died January 10, 1994; two brothers Ebert and Bertil Stein and three sisters Ruby Johnson, Svea Mattson and Janet Rose. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
