Obituary of Samuel C. Trippi
Samuel C. Trippi, 84, of 128 Maple St. passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014, in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 20, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Thomas and Margaret Saldi Trippi.
Sam attended Jamestown Public Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
Before his retirement, he worked as a cement mason for the former Barnes Construction Company and in earlier years had worked for the Scalise Construction Company.
He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and had previously served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Marco Polo Club and along with his wife was active in the Quadrilia Italian Dancers.
His family will remember him as a very patient, kind, compassionate and gentle man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them to play games. He was loved by his co-workers and took great pride in his work and in taking care of his home. He will also be remembered as a devoted husband to his wife Josephine.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn (Thomas, Sr.) Langworthy of West Ellicott, five grandchildren, Thomas (Amy) Langworthy, Jr., Lindsay (Paul) Pappalardo, Matthew Langworthy all of Jamestown, Allison Langworthy of Lakewood, Patrick Langworthy , a student at Fredonia State, two great grandsons, Noah and Grant Langworthy, a sister, Josephine Perhai of Sarasota, FL, a brother, Anthony (Cecilia) Trippi of Cambria, CA., his niece and caregiver, Julie Ann Spaulding as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former Josephine Pollaro Trippi whom he married June 2, 1951 and who died September 30, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at7:45 p.m. today.
