Obituary of Gladys M. Fedirko

Gladys M. Fedirko, 88, formerly of 1 Elmwood Ave. W.E., died at 4:05 a.m. Monday (September 29, 2014) at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 30, 1926 in Jamestown, one of ten children of the late Gustaf and Anna Carlson Hanson. A lifelong area resident, she was employed for 18 years by Quality Markets, working in the meat room and retiring in 1988. Gladys was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, David Fedirko of Arvada, CO and Peter Fedirko III of New Castle, CO; two daughters, Cindy (Gary) Swan of Advance, NC and Susan (Denny) King of South Carolina; six grandchildren: Danny Fedirko and Michael Fedirko, both of Colorado, Gary Allen Swan, Jr. and Felicia Taylor, both of North Carolina, Jennifer Harris of Georgia and Tara Thorne of Maryland; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ginnie Samuelson, Margaret White and Dolores Hanson; as well as many nieces and nephews, including Darlene Anderson of Frewsburg. Gladys was preceded in death by two sisters, Anora Hanson and Lillie Rice; and four brothers, LaVerne, Clarence, Willis and Maynard Hanson. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday.
