Obituary of John L. Graham

John L. Graham, 64, of 4295 Fluvanna-Townline Rd., Jamestown, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in his home surrounded by his family. An area resident for most of his life, he was born January 12, 1950 in Corinth, MS, the son of the late Willie Calvin and Ilean Walker Graham. He was a member of the Hurlburt United Methodist Church and in earlier years was a car detailer. One of John's passions was spending time with his grandchildren. He welcomed all who came to his home, his family or not, he was known as "Papa" to everyone. His continued friendship with his children's friends was everlasting. He loved to fish, camp, hunt and his other passion was NHRA drag racing, He loved his '32 coupe, and it was his dream to see it to its completion. John was a kind gentle man who loved his wife and children above all else. We take comfort in knowing that he and Aaron are together again in Glory and God's grace, peace and comfort will sustain us until we are joined together again. Surviving are his wife the former Rachel A. Biekert whom he married December 16, 1978, a daughter, Sara J. Graham, a son, Isaiah J. Graham, four grandchildren, Anton J. Graham, Esquire M. Perez, Amari M. Graham, Aaron J. Graham and a brother Ronald L. Graham all of Jamestown, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Aaron J. Graham who died November 25, 2013 and his brother Lonnie E. Graham who died December 11, 2010. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Maria B. Jones will officiate. Burial will be next to Aaron in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorials in John and Aaron's name be made to the Hope Lodge, 197 Summer St. Buffalo, NY 14222. It was home to the Graham family during Aaron's illness.
