Obituary of Pauline S. Smith

Pauline S. Smith, 97, died Monday October 20, 2014 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born September 5, 1917 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Oscar and Amanda Peterson Samuelson. Pauline was a graduate of Jamestown High School and prior to retirement, worked at Bigelow's Department Store for many years. She was an active member of the Ashville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed cooking and knitting. Pauline was very involved with her family, and will be sorely missed. Surviving are a son, Roger Keith Smith of Cape Coral, FL; a daughter, Wendy Louise Smith of Newark, DE; four grandchildren, Dallas Mattay, Michael Mattay, Julia Petermann, and Robert Smith; and 13 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Keith Smith; a granddaughter, Roxanne Smith; a grandson, Roger Keith Smith Jr.; a brother, Roger N. Samuelson; and a sister, Betty M. Zimmerman. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Shreffler, Heritage Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
