Obituary of Joseph M. Foley

Joseph M. Foley, 60, of Memory Garden, 560 Fairmount Ave. W.E., formerly of 2264 Carlson Rd. Jamestown, passed away at 2:34 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born October 29, 1953 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late James G. Foley and Pollyanna Tordoff Park. Joe was a 1972 graduate of Jamestown High School where he played varsity football. As an avid sportsman, he was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians and also enjoyed collecting baseball cards. Before his retirement due to a disability, he was employed by the Jamestown Fire Department for many years. In earlier years he had worked for Jamestown Metal Corporation and Jamestown Container Corporation. He was a former member of the Morton Club of Jamestown. Surviving are his mother, Pollyanna Park of Jamestown, four cousins, Jeffrey Tordoff, Linda Hepler, Paul Samuelson all of Jamestown, Nancy Samuelson of FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Burdette B. Park who died February 23, 2007, his grandparents, Helen and Edwin Fredrickson, his uncle, John S. Tordoff, Sr. who died December 16, 2004 and his cousin John S. Tordoff, Jr. who died April 27, 2006. A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701 or to a volunteer fire department of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Memory Garden and Heritage Park for their excellent care given to Joe the past several years.
