Obituary of James A. Loomis
James A. Loomis, 79, of 35 New York Avenue, Lakewood, died Wednesday October 29, 2014, in WCA Hospital.
He was born January 17, 1935, in Corry, PA, a son of the late Homer and Mary Bensink Loomis.
He was a 1953 graduate of Clymer High School.
Prior to his retirement he was employed by Marlin Rockwell Corporation as shipping department manager.
He was a member of First Church of God and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He served on the Harmony Town Board and was Town Justice for Harmony for many years. Following retirement he enjoyed golfing, fishing and meeting his buddies for coffee to help solve the world's issues.
Surviving are his wife Hesper Chadwick Larson Loomis; three sons John (Lori) Loomis of Burlington, NC, Christopher (Jenny) Loomis of Blockville and Timothy (Janice) Loomis of Ashville; six grandchildren Jordan (Sarakate) Loomis, Brittany Loomis, Juliann (Mike) Johnson, Amy (Tim Greene) Loomis, Cassie (Mack Rosage) Loomis and Taylor Loomis; great granddaughter Rylee Rosage; three step children Rhonda (Matt) Harp and Dan (Terrie) Larson of Busti and Andy Larson of Kennedy; step grandchildren Joshua (Ashley) Harp, JoHannah (Scott) Brown, Lydia Harp, Elijah Eddy, Nicole (Mike) Weaver, Katie (Scott) Weilacher and Jim (Amy) Larson; step great grandchildren Jameson and Gunnar Brown, Ashlynn and Norah Weaver and Peyton and Ethan Weilacher; two sisters Betty Courtright of Edinboro, PA and Lois (Bill) Schutt of Clymer and a brother Homer (Marge) Loomis of Clymer.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Alice McJunkin Loomis, May 10, 2001 and a brother-in-law Milt Courtright.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Myron Myers and Rev. Mervin Lee will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
