Obituary of Norm Robert Norman Olson
R. Norman Olson, 85, passed away Friday October 31, 2014 in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born February 23, 1929 in Jamestown the son of the late Carl E. and Emma Olson.
Norm was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a WWII and Korean veteran, serving in the US Army. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of Jamestown Construction Company, building over 800 homes in the Jamestown area. He attended Zion Covenant Church, and was a former member of the War Vets. Norm enjoyed fishing with his friends, cooking Swedish foods for his family, and auto racing with his brothers and sons.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Alice I. Anderson Olson whom he married February 20, 1954; two sons, James N. (Pam) Olson of Jamestown; Daniel R. Olson of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Karli C. (Jon) McCune of Hamburg, NY; Joanna L. Olson and James C. Olson, both of Jamestown; and a great granddaughter, Leila McCune.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Charles, and Kenneth Olson, and a sister, Elsie Olson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
