Obituary of Barbara J. Juel

Barbara J. Juel, 84, of 1441 Peck Settlement Rd., passed away Wednesday, Nov.5, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. A Jamestown resident most of her life, she was born Dec. 23, 1929 in Kane, Pa, a daughter of the late Merle R. and Hazel E. Nelson Shotts. She graduated from Celoron High School and prior to her retirement was a real estate agent for Bernhardt Realty for many years. Barbara was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Lakewood American Legion Post #1286, and the Jamestown Moose # 1681. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She also enjoyed camping with her family and fishing with her son Bob. She was always complimented on her garden and her gardening skills. Surviving are a sister, Virginia Fitzgerald of Maryland; three sons, John (Marsha) Martin, Rick Martin, and Robert (Gloria) Martin, all of Jamestown and a daughter, Susan (Kurt) Conover of Atlanta, Ga; a stepson, James Juel of Jamestown; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Juel, whom she married May 5, 1988 and who passed away Oct. 23, 2011, and her first husband, Ralph G. Martin Jr. in 1980. A private family service will be held. The Rev. Sam Shreffler will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
