Obituary of Harry C. Mace

Harry C. Mace, 88, of 411 Allen Street, died Monday November 10, 2014, in WCA Hospital. He was born March 14, 1926, in Charleston, WV, a son of Ollie Mace and Helen Martin Mace Rohrig. He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy serving from 1943-46. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Ethan Allen as a woodworker. He earlier had worked for Louie Minsker Salvage as a truck driver. Surviving are three children Larry (Bonnie) Mace of Russell, PA and Diana (Richard) Paul and Linda (William Smith) Haney, both of Jamestown; ten grandchildren Amy, Julie and John Mace, Chris, Jamie, Richie and Kimberly Paul and Wayne, Jeremy and Joshua Haney; ten great grandchildren; three sisters Dorothy Thaxton, Helen Bonovitch and Jody Coniglio; two brothers Stanford and Stuart Rohrig and a companion Joan Gilbert, with whom he made his home. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Elsie "Tootie" Shirkey, whom he married April 5, 1949 and who died February 21, 1997 and three brothers Stanley Rohrig and Basil and Richard Mace. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
