Obituary of Jane Burns
Jane Burns, 89, of Hultquist Place, 715 Falconer St. Jamestown, formerly of Perrysburg, NY, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 29, 1925 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Howard and Marie Black Kobel.
Before her retirement she was a Registered Nurse formerly working at Sister's of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, Tri County Hospital in Gowanda, NY and Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving, NY. During World War II she was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp.
Jane was a communicant of the former St. Joan of Arch Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society as well as acting as a Eucharistic Minister.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who devoted to herself to her husband and children. Her life revolved around her families activities.
Surviving are her children, Robert (Mary Borowski) Burns, Jr. of Bemus Point, NY, Kevin (Sally) Burns of Jamestown, Dennis (Sally) Burns of Jamestown, Terry (Janet) Burns of Forestville, NY, Timothy (Kathy) Burns of Ashville, NY, Patrick (Cheryl) Burns of Lakewood, NY, Barbara Burns of Orchard Park, NY, Wendy (Robert Ratterman) Burns of Randolph, NY, 11 grandchildren, Scott Kohler, Grover Kohler both of Denver, CO, Sarah Gaither of Charlotte, NC, Nicole Gibb of Akron, OH, Meg Burns of Crested Butte,CO, Tara Burns of Lawton, OK, Andrew Burns of Silver Creek, NY, Laura Burns, Daniel Burns both of Ashville, Leah Ratterman, Kelly Ratterman both of Randolph, four great grandchildren, Bolden and Miles Gibb, Jack and Benjamin Gaither, a brother, Thomas Kobel of Darien Center, NY and a sister Nancy (Chuck) Weisenberger of Bristol, VA.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Burns, Sr. whom she married June 21, 1947 and who died September 3, 1997, a sister, Mary Ann Clark and a brother, Howard Kobel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 26 Erie Ave. Gowanda, NY. The Rev. Joseph Porpiglia, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Perrysburg Cemetery, Perrysburg, NY.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 West Third St. Jamestown, NY and for one hour prior to the mass at church.
