Obituary of Marlene M. Walrod
Marlene M. Starks Walrod, 76, of Lutheran Social Services, formerly of Bemus Point, went to be with the Lord Monday afternoon after a short illness.
She was born February 21, 1938 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Clifford and Louise Crandall Starks. She grew up in Bemus Point and graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1956.
Marlene worked for W.T. Grants early in her life as a window designer. After moving back to Bemus Point, she worked at Super Duper in the bakery for over 20 years.
She was very active in 4-H through her youth and became a leader later in her life. She also was very active in Boy Scouts and in the Love School PTA when her children were young, serving as president. Marlene was member of the Ellery Senior Citizens; a former member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League; and a life member of the AMVETS.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, George Walrod of Bemus Point; her son Brian Walrod of Jamestown; three daughters, Brenda M. (Vic) Tarana of West Ellicott; Michelle (Bob) Frederickson of Jamestown; Ginger M. Guichard of Cassadaga; five grandchildren, Blake Tarana, Nicole and Ashley Frederickson, William and Alicia Guichard; a brother, Richard G. (Donna) Starks of Bemus Point; and a sister, Ginny (Ron) Marzonia of Arlington, TX.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Damien Tarana.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Lutheran Chaplain will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday (two hours prior to the service) in the funeral home.
