Obituary of Louella M. Nolan
Louella M. Nolan, 92, of the Bergquist Apartments on the Heritage Village Campus, formerly of 303 West Fifth St. Jamestown, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, in W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area, she was born July 7, 1922 in Ashville, NY, one of eight children, to the late Cecil A. and Mabelle I. Gunton Card, Sr.
Before her retirement she had been employed as a cook for the former Hall Memorial Home and had also worked for the former Jamestown Sterling Corporation and the Lakewood Liquor Store.
She was baptized at the Ashville United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post 8647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Mayville, where she served as past president and past secretary. She was also a member of the Henry Mosher Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary, Falconer, the Jamestown and Falconer Moose Lodge, serving as past treasurer of the Falconer Moose.
Louella came from a musical family where she loved playing the piano and accordion. She played for many family events and parties over the years. She also loved to dance and taught her nieces and nephews how to dance the polka. She enjoyed shopping, doing puzzles, traveling and never past up a chance to go camping and being outdoors with her family. One of her most favorite activities was marching in the local parades throughout Chautauqua County with the American Legion or the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are a son; Daniel L. Nolan, a daughter; Linda M. Nolan both of Jamestown, 12 grandchildren; Daniel Nolan, Jr., Dennis (Julie) Nolan, Kimberly (Anthony) Hewitt, Timothy Nolan, Stephan Nolan, Stacey (Dawn Duvall) Nolan, Jennifer (Robert) Sayball, Kelly (David) Caissey, David Miller, April (Bill) Radack, Emilee (Joseph) Franklin, Ryan Richard, 30 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, two sisters; Doris E. Clark of Holiday, FL, Janice M. Camp of Stockton, NY, a brother; Francis Laverne Card of Lakewood, NY, a special niece and her caregiver for many years Sheila Meder, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude L. Nolan whom she married October 1, 1945 and who died December 6, 1991, three brothers; Cecil A. Card, Jr., Charles Card, Lawrence Card and a sister Mildred Smith.
The funeral will be held at noon Sunday (today) in the Lind Funeral Home. Her niece, Pamela Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY on Monday.
