Obituary of Jody B. Spitale

Jody B. Spitale, 62, of 347 Broadhead Avenue, formerly of 133 Colfax Street, went to be with the angels Thursday January 22, 2015, in WCA Hospital. A native of Jamestown, she was born September 28, 1952, a daughter of the late Howard Bush and Gale Libby Bush Atkins. She was a 1970 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had worked for Chautauqua Hardware and earlier at Blackstone Corporation where she helped form the union. She was a charter member of the United Auto Workers at Blackstone. Always active in politics and community affairs, Jody initiated Jamestown Area Watchdog Society (JAWS) groups and was an advocate for Graves Disease support where she made many friends. Surviving are her husband Carl R. Spitale, whom she married in 1970; two children Libby (Tom) Sheldon of Frewsburg and Robert (Crystal) Spitale of Irvine, CA; four grandchildren Levi and Alex Sheldon and Josephine and Adeline Spitale; a brother Dale Bush of Jamestown and two sisters Susan Libby of State College, PA and Tamara Cala of North Carolina. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Molly Christine Spitale. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Monday.
