Obituary of Evelyn B. Seeley

Evelyn Berg Seeley, 89, formerly of Carlson Road, Kiantone, NY and Memory Garden, died Thursday January 22, 2015, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born October 4, 1925, in the family home in South Dayton, NY, a daughter of the late Martin and Nancy Lutz Berg. A 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School, she was the wife and best friend for over seventy years of Walter Stirling Seeley, whom she married October 13, 1943 and who died August 7, 2013. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for decades, primarily as private secretary to Cline Crawford of Crawford Furniture Manufacturing. Evelyn treasured her family, friends and home and was a loving wife mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished her winters in Winter Haven, Florida with her husband and the activities they shared with friends in antique automobile clubs. She was also a member of Kiantone Congregational Church. She had a sense of humor and wit that even brought smiles to her doctors and caregivers. Surviving are two daughters Nancy Taylor of Jamestown and Peggy (Larry) Witherow of Albion, PA; grandchildren Amy (Brent)Zaprowski of Salisbury, MD, Karen (Bart) Elliott of Louisberg, NC, Megan (Jeremy) Auge of Syracuse, NY and Nicholas Stirling Taylor of Zhongli, Taiwan; five great grandchildren and her siblings from the South Dayton area brothers Lester, Charles, James and Douglas Berg and sisters Viola Hurst and Mary Alice Stolts. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Shongo February 7, 1991. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
