Obituary of Joyce B. Lawyer

Joyce Bratt Lawyer, 91, formerly of Peck-Settlement Road, passed away Sunday January 25, 2015 in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born July 21, 1923 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Harold Charles and Hazel Lucille Aiken Bratt. Joyce was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1940 and Jamestown Business College. For 29 years, she worked at Ring Punch and Die. Previously, she worked at American Manufacturing and Jamestown Wholesale Grocery. Joyce was a member of Stillwater United Methodist Church where she served as organist for 52 years. She was also pianist at Garfield Road Church of God for two years. For several years, she served as Deputy Clerk for the Town of Kiantone. Joyce was a member of the Jamestown Audubon Society and the Kiantone Historical Society. Surviving are two sisters, Patricia M. (John) Archer of Lynchburg, VA; Hazel D. Hudson of Sun City, AZ.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Lawyer whom she married July 14, 1962 and who died March 16, 2010. A memorial service will be announced later this year by the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Stillwater Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
