Obituary of Warren A. Norton
Warren A. "Chuck" Norton, 87, of Summerfield, FL formerly of Beechview Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015, in Palmetto, FL.
A Jamestown area resident for most of his life, he was born July 16, 1927 in Jamestown, NY. He was the son of the late Raymond and Marian Lord Norton.
He was a 1945 graduate of the former Bemus Point High School. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy. During World War II, he served his country on a destroyer in the Pacific.
While living in Jamestown, he was a member of the Moon Brook Country Club, the Jamestown Elks Club and a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. After retiring to Florida, he became a communicant of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Summerfield, FL.
Warren was employed in the business machine industry for his entire career. He was well known for his years as a typewriter repairman and later as a service manager. He retired as President/Co-owner of Norton and Jochum Business Systems, Inc. in 1986.
On November 27, 1948, he married his first wife, Rosemary Phillips Norton. They celebrated 43 years of marriage prior to her death on July 12, 1992. They were preceded in death by their infant daughter, Madonna Norton.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Seaberg Norton whom he married April 23,1994, his four children, Nanette (Michael) O'Neill of Boynton Beach, FL, Rosanne (Daniel) Johanson of Jamestown, NY, Donna (Sam) D'Angelo of Lakewood Ranch, FL, William Norton of Tonawanda, NY, his seven grandchildren, P. Scott O'Neill of Washington, DC, Katherine (James) Pettit of Darien,CT, Lars (Melissa) Johanson of Baltimore, MD, Erik (Chelsea Fontana) Johanson of Tonawanda, NY, Diane (Kurt) Cummings of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Sam D'Angelo of West Hollywood, CA, Jillian (Justin Berman) D'Angelo of Orlando, FL, five great grandchildren, his brother, Ellis Norton of Fluvanna, NY, his sister, Clarice Gates of Bemus Point, NY; and the families of Steven Seaberg, Douglas Seaberg, and the late Marsha Seaberg VanNortwick
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Holy Apostles Parish at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Friends will be received at the church for one hour prior to the mass.
The funeral will be held in Summerfield, FL at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
