Obituary of Dorothy D. Guarino

Dorothy D. Guarino, 91, formerly of Philmont, NY, went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born March 4, 1923 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, a daughter of the late Paul F. and Sarah Mae Gordon Benway. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Women's Army Corp where she was a nurse during World War II. Before her retirement she was a registered nurse for the New York State Division of Youth working from the Brookwood Secure Center in Hudson, NY for 17 years. Surviving is a son, Michael P. (Marygrace) Guarino of Bemus Point, NY, a daughter, Christine (William) Beck of Hudson, NY, eight grandchildren, Joel Strong, Stefan Beck, Mark Castle, Kristin Castle, Kelly Eddington, Nathaniel Danforth, Audra Frazier, Ian Guarino, eleven great grandchildren and a sister Patricia Feike of Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Arthur C. Guarino whom she met while both of them were serving our country. They were married April 17, 1945 and Arthur died November 23, 2011. Funeral services will be held in Hudson, NY. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Philmont, NY.
