Obituary of John C. Alonge, Jr.
John C. Alonge Jr., 68, of 76 Harris Ave. Jamestown, passed away Friday February 13, 2015 in the Veteran Administration Hospital, Buffalo, NY.
He was born April 13, 1946 in Jamestown the son of the late John C. and Gertrude Pintagro Alonge Sr.
John was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 until 1970. Prior to retirement, he worked at Hope's Windows for 42 years. He attended Fluvanna Community Church and was a member of the Vikings, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion in Celoron. John was a big fan of the NY Yankees, the Bills, and the Raiders. He enjoyed camping and traveling, especially to the ocean.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rose Alonge whom he married September 10, 1983; four children, Gregory P. Alonge of Charleston, SC; Krista M. (Donald) Mineweaser of Russell, PA; Michael E. Smallman, Patrick S. (Heather) Smallman, both of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Nicholette Alonge, Payton Mineweaser, Allyson Mineweaser; three brothers, Gerald P. (Marie) Alonge of Meadville, PA; Jack B. (Susan) Alonge of Dunkirk; Jeffrey A. Alonge of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of Fluvanna Community Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
