Obituary of Lillian O. Carlson
Lillian O. Carlson, 91, of 71 Livingston Ave. in Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in WCA Hospital.
She was the widow of Adolph C. Carlson whom she married February 19, 1944 and who died March 1, 1989.
A lifelong area resident, she was born November 22, 1923 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late George and Vivian Warner Olson, and was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School.
In earlier years, Lillian was employed as a secretary at the former Marlin Rockwell Corp.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council, singing in the choir and volunteering for many activities. Lillian was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Marvin Community House and the American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation. She served as a tour guide at the Fenton History Center, volunteer for Joint Neighborhood Project and had received the Presidential Award for Volunteering signed by George W. Bush.
Lillian is survived by a daughter, Brenda J. Carlson of N. Tonawanda; two sons, Bruce D. (Judy) Carlson of Lakewood and Barry D. (Joyce) Carlson of Bellflower, CA; three grandchildren: Kimberly J. Schwinge of Amherst, Thomas R. Foley, Jr. of N. Tonawanda, and Debra J. (Darren) Pogue of Lockport; two great-grandchildren, Caitlin Schwinge and Liam Pogue; and a brother, Sanford Olson of Jamestown.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Eckess.
The funeral will be held 11a.m. Monday in Memorial Chapel of First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel K. Nagle will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church Monday.
