Obituary of William J. Dunnewold
William J. "Bill" Dunnewold, 77, of 74 E. Main Street, Panama, formerly of Clymer, passed away Friday March 6, 2015, in his home with his family by his side.
He was born September 13, 1937 in Clymer, a son of the late Lawrence and L. Jeannette Damon Dunnewold.
He was a graduate of Clymer High School.
Prior to his retirement he was a self employed truck driver. He was a forestry worker for many years having owned and operated a logging company. He later owned and operated Clymer Vault Service and was French Creek Town Justice for several years.
Bill loved to repair and tinker with cars, tractors and lawn equipment. He enjoyed roller skating, bowling and fishing and in his younger days was a race car driver on dirt tracks and frozen lakes.
Bill attended Panama United Methodist Church and was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, American Legion and the Legionnaires. As a member of Lake Erie Pullers he built pulling tractors which won awards at competitions.
Bill's family would like to thank Hospice Chautauqua County for the wonderful care he received from them.
Surviving are his companion of many years Phyllis "Mazie" Edmiston, with whom he made his home; four children Vicki (Gail) Coan of Fredonia, Lawrence (Heidi) Dunnewold of Clymer, Craig Dunnewold of Conneaut Lake, PA and Eric (Kristin) Dunnewold of Jamestown; ten grandchildren Jocelyn Milliman, Vanessa (Josh) Baron, Cody (Alisha) Dunnewold, Andrew (Travis) Dunnewold, Kaley (Jesse) Brown, Caitlynn Dunnewold, Jacob, Chloe and Veronica Short and Ian (Justine) Coan; five great grandchildren Gabriel and Garin Humes, Noah and Ivy Brown and Marley Dunnewold; his former wife Wanda Jenkins of Clymer; Mazie's children Diana (Stephen) Propper of Hampton, NJ and Todd (Becky) Edmiston of London, Canada and their children Justin and Josh Propper and Travis, Owen, Aubrey and Austin Edmiston.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Dunnewold.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Panama United Methodist Church. Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate.
Burial will be in Holland Cemetery, Clymer.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
