Obituary of Mary C. O'Connor

Mary C. O'Connor, 81, of Lakewood, NY, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born June 4, 1933 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Walter and Irene Mullard Christopherson. Mary was a graduate of Jamestown High School Class of 1951 and also graduated from Alfred State College. In previous years she was an executive secretary for the Abedon Insurnace Company in Rhode Island. She was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she also volunteered at the 4th St. Caf at St. Luke's and was a member of the Norden Women's Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who loved cooking, baking, gardening and painting. She was known as a very creative person by her family. Surviving is her husband of almost 60 years, Francis J. O'Connor whom she married March 15, 1955, two daughters Laurel (Frank) Canepa of Cinn. OH, Leslie (Reed Netter) O'Connor of Barrington, RI, two sons Christopher O'Connor of Barrington, RI, Douglas "Ted" O'Connor of Mechanicsville, VA, six grandchildren, Matthew O'Connor, David O'Connor, Kate Canepa, William Canepa, Emily Canepa, Zachary O'Connor and her nieces, Deborah Kathman, Cindy Neelen, and Kerrin Bloomquist. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley C. Benson who died March 14, 2009. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. F. Luke Foder, Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
