Obituary of Bertil R. Holm

Bertil R. "Bert" Holm, 97, of Emeritus, died Wednesday March 11, 2015, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. He was born October 19, 1917, in Jamestown, a son of the late Gust and Edith Persson Holm. A graduate of Jamestown High School, Bert was a WWII veteran of the US Navy serving from 1944-1946. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Dahlstrom Manufacturing as a welder He was a member of Fluvanna Community Church and earlier Hillcrest Baptist Church where he was active with the Hillcresters, Home Builders and MOPS groups. He was a member of Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion and participated with the Mall Walkers. Surviving are his wife Betty Bentley Martin Holm, whom he married July 28, 2002; two children Donald (Lori) Holm of Falconer and Sally (Dan) Dale of Jamestown; six grandchildren Carisa Crocker, Kali Holm, Lee Atwater, Amy Nomes, Troy Nomes and Todd Lawson; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; three stepchildren Randy (Dennis Button) Martin of Greenhurst, Ken (Kim) Martin of Jamestown and Shari (Merle) Spinler of Jamestown; a step daughter-in-law Rhonda Martin of Washington, DC; twelve step grandchildren; twenty-two step great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren and a sister Marilyn Isaacson of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Violet Lindquist Holm, whom he married May 16, 1948 and who died February 6, 1995; step children Vicky Marsh and Terry Martin and a brother Harold Holm. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
