Obituary of David N. Bentley

David N. Bentley, 71, of 2105 Shadyside Rd. Lakewood, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 9:10 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born August 11, 1943 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late James Frederick and Alvenia Gladys Barden Bentley, Sr. David was currently attending the Fluvanna Community Church. Before his retirement in 1997, he was employed as a construction equipment operator for the City of Jamestown for many years and also worked for the Jamestown Parks Department for five years. In earlier years he drove the horse drawn sidewalk plows for the city. He was a member of the AFSCME Union Local 418, where he served as union steward for several years and was a former member of the Jamestown Moose Lodge. Surviving are two brothers, James F. (Susan) Bentley, Jr. of Westfield, NY, William A. (Suzanne) Bentley of Panama, NY, a sister, Bonnie Terracina of Bossier City, LA, his Aunt Belle Barden of Jamestown as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved dog "Ozzie", and his brother, Richard R. Bentley who died August 17, 1997. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of the Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Urn Garden Columbarium. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
