Obituary of A. Magdalyn King
A. Magdalyn King, 90, formerly of 2023 Shadyside Rd., Lakewood, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 in WCA Hospital.
She was the widow of Gerald M. King, whom she married March 26, 1948 and who died May 14, 1997.
Magdalyn was born May 19, 1924 in North Collins, the daughter of the late Felix and Lillian Diodato Pollutro.
She was a graduate of North Collins High School and earned a BS in Business Administration from D'Youville College in 1944. She also held a Masters in Secondary Education from Syracuse University and a Masters in Primary Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
Magdalyn was a teacher for many years, retiring from Southwestern Central School.
She loved to sing with the Mozart Club of Jamestown, plant flower gardens and rescue abandoned dogs through the Humane Society. She was a member of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle and St. Elia Albanian Orthodox Church. She was also a master of the Chautauqua Lake Pronaos affiliated with the Rosicrucian Order A.M.O.R.C.
Surviving is a daughter, Teresa Duro of Jamestown; three grandsons: Christopher (Margo Wolfe) Duro of Erie, PA, Christian Duro of Jamestown and Michael Duro of Las Vegas, NV; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Urbanski of Erie and great-grandson, Colman Scanlan-Duro of Sarasota, FL.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service in the funeral home.
