Obituary of Richard M. Johnson
Richard M. "Dick" Johnson, 70, of 18 Stoneman Ave. Lakewoood, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015,in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, he was born March 5, 1945 in Jamestown, NY a son of Dorothy B. "Dottie" Rightmyer Johnson and the late Ohrman E. Johnson.
Dick was a graduate of Southwestern Central School.
Before his retirement he was a machinist for Ring Precision Components Producto Machine Company formerly, Ring Punch and Die, for 42 years.
He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was well known as a car and hot rod enthusiast. He took great pride in showing off his yellow "Ford'Coup". He will be remembered as an artistic woodworker and was the type a guy who could build and fix anything. He was a very intelligent, caring, talented and humble person with a great sense of humor who would do anything for anyone. He was also an excellent chess player who rarely lost a match and was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Surviving are his mother, Dorothy "Dottie" Minati of West Ellicott, a son, Wayne R. (Carole) Johnson of Jamestown, a daughter, Stephanie Lynn Lackey of Ferndale, WA, a sister, Valerie J. Fairbanks of Longmont, CO and his loving companion Patty Durnell of Lakewood, NY.
He was preceded in death by his father who died January 8, 1968.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy E. Ferguson, pastor of the Busti Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be recievd from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
