Obituary of Janice M. Strickroth

Janice M. Strickroth, 77, of 320 Niagara Ave. Jamestown, NY passed away Tuesday May 5, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA. She was born June 6, 1937 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Fred and Lucille Holland. Prior to retirement, she worked as a Dispatcher with the Jamestown Police Department for over 21 years. She attended Lily Dale Spiritualist Church and was a member of the Eagles Club and Jamestown Rifle and Pistol Club. Janice was an avid gardener and crafter. She enjoyed traveling, going to yard sales, reading books, and she loved her cats. Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Sharp of Jamestown; her son, Keith (Linda) Strickroth of Bemus Point; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, Alex, Jason, Samantha, Nicole, and Andrea; 15 great grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Holland of Fort Myers, FL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Strickroth whom she married December 15, 1956 and who died in 1994; a granddaughter, Taylor Ann Strickroth; a grandson, Christopher Thomas Sharp; and a sister, Shirley Williamson. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. There will be a private family visitation from 1:30 to 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Fluvanna Fire Hall for a wake service.
