Obituary of Vernon Ramsey
Vernon B. Ramsey, 90, of 128 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away Wednesday May 6, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was a lifelong area resident. Vernon was born January 3, 1925 in Maine the son of the late Herbert and Florence Blackmar Ramsey.
He was a veteran of the US Army, serving two years during World War II with the 9th Armored Division in the European Theatre. Following his discharge, he graduated from the Pittsburgh Art Institute through the GI Bill.
He was owner and operator of Tri-State Displays, Inc. Vernon was a member of Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion where he was a proud member of the Firing Squad. He was a life member of the VFW and DAV, and a member of War Vets Recreation, Inglald Lodge #65 IOV, Celoron Moose, and past president of the Falconer Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Weller Ramsey; and children, Jeffrey (Marian) Ramsey of Frewsburg; Brendon Beers of Cape Coral, FL; Michele (Tim) Slade of Randolph; Dianne (Don) Cornell of Sinclairville; Susan (Ron) Blanchard of Leesburg, FL; Gordon (Susan) Anderson of Maine; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother, Merlon Ramsey of Jamestown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory and a brother, Brenton Ramsey.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
Burial with full Military Honors will be in Soldiers Circle in Lake View Cemetery.
