Obituary of Edith S. Swanson
Edith S. Swanson, 66, of Lakewood, NY, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 in WCA Hospital following a brief illness.
Edith was born February 12, 1949 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late John A. and Helen Howard Blanchard and was a 1967 graduate of Panama Central School. She also attended Jamestown Business College.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper by Mayshark Builders in Maple Springs for 25 years, retiring in April 2015. Edith was a central player with Mayshark Builders having only recently retired. Her knowledge, multi-dimensional role, and helpfulness will be greatly missed. She had also previously worked for Yaw Oil in Lakewood and the Interlectric Corp. in Warren.
Edith was an avid quilter who took as much enjoyment in online pattern and fabric shopping as she did in actually quilting. She enjoyed reading, plants and any online shopping. She could often be found at household and garage sales adding to her multiple collections of antiques and too much stuff.
She is survived by her son, Lonny Ecker of Lakewood; two sisters, Joanne (Richard) Langham and Dorothy Scolton, both of Ashville; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her close friend, Flan.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Wild Rose Cemetery in N. Harmony.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Northern Chautauqua County Canine Rescue, 7540 N. Gale St., Westfield, NY 14787.
