Obituary of Betty J. Hendrickson

Betty J. Hendrickson, 89, formerly of Cowing Road Lakewood and Aldren Ave Jamestown, passed away Tuesday May 19, 2015 in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident, she was born January 18, 1926 in Lakewood the daughter of the late Harry T. and Nettie Barclay McMaster. Betty was a 1944 graduate of the former Celoron High School. She was a member of the Celoron Historical Society, Jamestown Jammers Booster Club, Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary, Celoron/West Ellicott Senior Citizens, and past director and member emeritus of the Jamestown Women's Bowling Association. Betty also volunteered with RSVP and Meals on Wheels. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and many dear friends including Donna Waite. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin L. Hendrickson whom she married May 21, 1945 and who died November 12, 1987; her daughter, Jody R. Hendrickson who died September 23, 2011; two sisters, Grace Tenharken, and Myrtle Howell; and three brothers, Herbert, Earl, and John "Jack" McMaster. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
