Obituary of Carolyn E. Anderson
Carolyn E. Anderson, 89, of 3366 Anderson Road, Busti, passed away Wednesday June 3, 2015 in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA.
A lifelong area resident, she was born January 5, 1926 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Frances E. Engstrom Carlson.
Carolyn was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1946 graduate of Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing, after which she worked as a Registered Nurse at the former Jamestown General Hospital.
Carolyn loved her career as a registered nurse and used her nursing skills for many years in providing care for friends in the community and many family members. Her caring and compassionate spirit continued throughout her lifetime. She was always concerned about the well being of others. Her helping hands and loving heart touched many lives and will be remembered by family and friends alike.
She was a member of the Busti Federated Church and in earlier years, was very involved with the March of Dimes. Carolyn was an avid reader especially interested in history. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling to the beach in Florida, and loved her flowers. She hosted many family gatherings at her beloved country home in Busti. Carolyn will be remembered as a woman of many talents.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary E. Schmidt and Emily J. Elliott, both of Jamestown; four sons, Thomas D. Anderson of Point Pleasant, PA; Joel N. Anderson of Kiantone; Dana A. Anderson of Busti; Jonathan R. Anderson of Marcellus, NY; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Hall of Clayton, NC; Kimberly Overton of Cassadaga; Heather Moniot of Ashville; Claire Anderson of New Hope, PA; Amy Elliott of Miami, FL; Erin Anderson-Black of Fort Pierce, FL; Emily Keagle and Thomas Anderson both of East Aurora, NY; Jordan, Lindsey, and Christian Anderson all of Busti; four great grandchildren, Nolan Ryan of Sierra Vista, AZ; Cody Bean of Cassadaga; Zachary and Garrett Hall both of Clayton, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry N. Anderson Jr., whom she married August 28, 1948 and who died August 9, 2000; and two brothers, Arthur H. Carlson and J. Everett Carlson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Her niece, Rev. Sarah Roncolato will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
