Obituary of Kathleen M. Mitchell

Kathleen McAlear Mitchell, 77, of 70 W Fairmount Ave Lakewood, formerly of 140 Winch Road Lakewood, passed away unexpectedly Monday June 1, 2015 in the Emergency Room at WCA Hospital. An area resident for over 40 years, she was born November 24, 1937 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late James and Kathleen "Betty" O'Neil McAlear. Kathleen was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newton, MA and of Colby Jr. College in New London, NH. Prior to retirement, she was a Legal Secretary with the law firm Phillips Lytle. Kathleen was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, the Book Club, the Lakewood Women's Club, and volunteered at the Lakewood Library. Surviving are two sons, Kevin J. (Mary) Mitchell of Andover, OH; Brian A. (Betsy) Mitchell of Jamestown; six grandchildren, Ryan Mitchell, Kayla Mitchell, Patric Mitchell, Melissa (Ted) Schroeder, Aaron Cole, and Rachael (Louis) McDaneld; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, James M. (Pailin) McAlear of Portland, OR; Jon O. (Shirley) McAlear of S Yarmouth, MA; a sister, Maureen "Mimi" McAlear of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Joan (Bruce) Erickson. A Memorial Service will be held at Noon Saturday June 13, 2015 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. John L. Kuhlmann will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to Noon Saturday in the funeral home. Inurnment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Resource Center, 200 Dunham Ave, Jamestown, NY 14701.
