Obituary of Freda M. Brink
Freda M. Brink, 89, of 530 Prospect St., formerly of McKinley Ave., passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2015, in her home.
A Jamestown resident most of her life, she was born October 3, 1925 in Foxtown, Pa. a daughter of the late William Henry and Anna Catherine Blackburn Ritenour.
In earlier years she was employed at Clarke Box Factory.
Freda and her late husband John over the years gave a home to over 50 children, short and long term foster children. She was a member of New Creation Assembly of God Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and attended Healing Word Ministries Church of God. Freda loved the Lord and prayed and read the Bible daily. She is truly in Heaven with John. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by five sons: Samuel (Kathy) Brink of Port St. Lucie, FL, David (Linda Edington) Brink of Frewsburg, Timothy (Michelle) Brink of San Antonio, TX, Douglas Brink of Sacramento, CA, Jason (Gladys Smith) McNeely of Jamestown; a daughter, M. Ann Ulander of Jamestown; a foster son, Lynn Terry of Falconer and a foster daughter, Grace Gardner of Jamestown who both were thought of as her own children; 15 grandchildren: Nick and Chris Brink of Boston, Mass., Kane (Amy) Brink of Kiantone, Casey Brink of Lakewood, Mary (Cody) Rapp of Busti, Stiles Brink of Frewsburg, Britney, Blake, and Brianna Brink of San Antonio, TX., Shawn (Breanna) Ulander, Clarissa, Hailey, Kelly Coutture, Stephanie Norquist, Aaron Wolf; 15 great grandchildren: Brady Ulander of Jamestown, Kole, Nolan and Garrett "G-man" Brink of Kiantone, Caidence, Easton, and Hudson Rapp of Busti, Sammy, Bellia, Nastia, and Oliva Brink all of Boston, Mass.; 8 foster grandchildren; 6 foster great-grandchildren; and a longtime good friend, June Smith of Ashville.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Brink, whom she married April 29, 1947, and who died December 25, 2000, 5 brothers; Ray, Roy, Leonard, Harold, and Donald Ritenour and 2 sisters: Mildred Briggs and Gertrude Herman.
A special thanks to foster children Lynn Terry, Grace (Ed) Gardner, Samantha "Sam", and Gayle for all the love and support you gave to John and Freda. #RealLove.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. William Blair, pastor of New Creation Assembly of God and Bishop Leecroft Clarke, pastor of Healing Word Ministries Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
